Studies of music in the Arab world. The department specialises in the making of Iraqi instruments and performance on them: santur (hammer dulcimer), ‘ud (Arabic lute), nay (reed flute), jawzah (fiddle).
Institution Notes:
The University was founded in its present form in 1958 and is the largest university in Iraq. The Department of Musical Arts was established in 1988.
