Institution Notes:

This institution was founded in 1921 and was granted its current name and status in 1951. It specialises in Hindustani instrumental and vocal classical music (North India) and also in Rabindra Sangit (Tagore Music). There are departments of Bengali, dance, folk music and art, history of Indian art and culture, instrumental music (sitar, tabla, violin, esraj, pakhawaj), musicology and aesthetics, painting, physics of sound, Sanskrit, vocal music. Languages of instruction are Bengali and English.
