Institution Notes:

The University was founded in 1922 and the Faculty of Music and Fine Arts was established in 1960. Music is taught at the constitutent Ramjas College, Daulat Ram College and Miranda House college for women. All music courses include vocal and instrumental Hindustani and Karnatak music (including sitar, veena, violin, sarod, guitar). There is a one-year certificate course in music for foreign students. The Department of Music organises seminars, lectures and concerts and publishes the journal Vageeshwari twice a year. The library has a special facility for visually challenged students, with text books being transcribed into braille and a number of talking books.
