Diploma in Karnatic Music. Four years. Studies in performance (voice, instruments – veena, violin, mridangam, flute), theory, musical heritage. Post-Diploma. A performance program in Karnatic music - performance and theory. A teacher training course is offered.
Institution Notes:
The Kalakshetra Foundation, founded in 1936, is dedicated to the revival and study of Indian arts and culture, in particular painting, music, dance, crafts and the like. The College offers studies in South Indian (Karnatak) classical music, dance, theatrical art, painting and handicrafts. The Foundation also includes the Besant Arundale Senior Secondary School, the Besant Theosophical High School, the Craft Education and Research Centre, the Bharata Kalakshetra Auditorium and the Dr U V Swaminather Iyer Library. Languages of instruction are Sanskrit, Tamil, Telugu and English.
