Diploma of Music. Studies in classical Indian vocal and instrumental music.
Institution Notes:
The Prayag Sangit Samiti was founded in 1926. It is housed in two buildings in the city of Allahabad and aims to propagate and popularise Indian Classical Music (Hindustani). Music programs are offered at the Vishnu Digamber Academy of Music. The Society organises competitions and conferences, and administers a system of examinations and awards. Classes are held in music theory, music performance (flute, guitar, sitar, tabla, violin), dance. The musicological library houses over 1500 rare books on vocal music, string and percussion instruments, dance and drama as well as a sizeable collection of sound recordings of top Indian musicians.
