Institution Notes:
The University of Southern Queensland can trace its history back to 1967. It gained its current name and status in 1992. The Creative Arts & Media division offers programs in visual arts, theatre, music and film television and radio. There is a second campus in Springfield. The Department of Music has pioneered the process of distance mode education, particularly for its studio teaching programs, for which it prepares students for such studio teaching examinations as the AMEB’s CTMusA, ATMusA and LTMusA and also for the Associated Board’s DipABRSM and LRSM piano teaching examinations. The university hosts a number of Dalcroze workshops and seminars for professional development for both students and members of the general community. There is an active Junior Academy of Music as well as a music education program for young people from birth to 18 years using the Dalcroze system of music education.
