Institution Notes:
The University of Pécs can trace its history back to 1367, thus being the oldest university in Hungary. It was established in its current form following the amalgamation in 2000 of the former Janus Pannonius University of Sciences and Illyés Gyula College of Education in Szekszárd. The Faculty of Music and Visual Arts was established in 1996. It organises an International Piano Contest in memory of Franz Liszt as well as the Imre Weidinger International Bassoon Contest. Facilities include well-equipped sound studios and laboratories.
