Institution Notes:

The Kodály Institute is a Faculty of the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music in Budapest. It is a post-graduate international training and research centre with the purpose of disseminating information about the Kodály concept of music education. There are in-service courses for Hungarian music teachers, and international courses are organised on an academic year basis (September to June) every year. Summer courses are also held to provide intensive training to music teachers and choral conductors. One-week programs can be arranged for foreign groups. The Institute organises the International Kodály Seminar every second year. It publishes books and articles on modern music pedagogy and musicology. Researches include the collection and classification of documents connected with Hungarian music pedagogy and Kodály’s work in this field. It also operates the Kodály Archives and the Kodaly Memorial Museum in Budapest, the former home of Zoltán Kodály, the Kodály Körönd, at Budapest VI, Andrássy út 89, Hungary. Tel +36 1352 7106, Fax +36 1322 9647. The Institute is housed in a former Franciscan monastery dating back to 1736. It was rebuilt in 1975 to house the current programs.
