Bachelor of Arts Honours. Four years. Studies in musics of the world, Western music history, jazz history, popular music, history of Chinese and Asian music, theory, harmony, counterpoint, composition. Solo performance is available by audition.

Institution Notes:

The university can trace its history back to 1910, thus being the oldest institution of higher learning in the territory. The music department was founded in 1981 and is affiliated with the Hong Kong Academy of Performing Arts. It has a collection of early music instruments, a Balinese gamelan and a collection of Chinese instruments. There is a well-equipped electronic music studio and a computer music laboratory. The library is building a collection of Chinese traditional music and works by contemporary composers in the East Asian region.
