Bachillerato Técnico Profesional con Orientación en Música. Three years. Studies include performance (piano, guitar, orchestral instruments, singing), theory, composition, music history, form and analysis, instrumental conducting, pedagogy. There is some emphasis on traditional arts and popular music of Honduras.
Institution Notes:
The Conservatory was founded in 1936 as the ‘School of Musical Arts’, and was granted the full name of ‘Conservatorio Nacional de Música Francisco Ramón Diaz Zerlaya’ (FRDZ) in 1994. It operates as an institution of secondary education under the supervision of the jurisdiction of the Directorate of Artistic Education and Training Honduras. In addition to the middle schools' semi-professional program there are courses for young children and interested adults in the local community.
