Institution Notes:
The University was established in 1990, though it can trace its history back to 1948. The Department of Music Science and Art accepted its first students in 1998. It is organised in a similar way to that of European Music Academies in order to provide performance as well as theoretical studies. As such, this and the Music Department in Corfu are the only universities in Greece to offer a performance program. The Department conducts research programs in various aspects of music and music education. Member of the Association Européenne des Conservatoires, Académies de Musique et Musikhochschulen.
