Institution Notes:
The university was founded in 1984 and recently has expanded its operations to several islands in the Ionian Islands Region. Its Department of Music Studies began operations in 1992. In 2018 the former Technological Educational Institute of the Ionian Islands was incorporated into the University, bringing with it its School of Music Technology. Among other things the Faculty of Music aims to promote Greek music. There is a collection of baroque instruments and traditional Greek instruments. An active member of the Association Européenne des Conservatoires, Académies de Musique et Musikhochschulen.
