Details:

Bachelor of Arts. Three years. Specialisation in Music Making, Production and Performance, with studies including performance on an instrument of your choice, music technology. A further year leads to the degree with honours. Bachelor of Education Secondary (Music). Four years.


Institution Notes:

The Northern Territory University was first established in 1989 and gained its current name and status in 2003. It has particular interests in indigenous and multicultural issues and programs of other institutions located in tropical climates. The School of Creative Arts and Design offers programs in music, visual arts and screen and new media production. The library holds a large collection of vocal sheet music from films dating from 1912 to the 1980s. The School of Music has close links with the Darwin Symphony Orchestra, the Darwin Youth Orchestra and the Darwin Festival. It organises a Centre for Youth and Community Music (CYCM), offering music training non-award programs in instrumental, vocal performance and theory as well as ensemble performance opportunities to the very young through to interested adults. Every two years the School of Music hosts the Darwin International Guitar Festival.
