The aim is to collect, preserve, study and disseminate Greek folk and Byzantine musical traditions and to create an ethnomusicology and audio-visual archive. The Research Centre organises lectures, educational programs, seminars and recitals of Greek traditional music. It offers lessons on traditional instruments. The Museum is housed in the Lassanis Mansion, built in 1842.
