Studies include performance (classical, jazz, traditional instruments), choral and instrumental conducting, composition, theory, music history, church music, popular music and dance in Ghana, music in world cultures, arts management, music technology, music education.

Institution Notes:

The university was founded in 1962. The music department was established in 1974 and is situated at the New Administration Block, adjacent to the Arts Faculty and Social Sciences Faculty. There are studies in religious music, popular music, African traditional music and Western classical music. In the primary school education program music may be taken as an elective. Facilities include a well-equipped music recording studio. Language of instruction is English.
