Institution Notes:

The West Saxony University of Applied Sciences was founded in 1992 though it can trace its history back to 1897. At its Markneukirchen campus it offers programs in bow-making, violin making, the making of plucked string instruments and the restoration of instruments. There is a close collaboration between the University of Zwickau program in instrument making and the Museum of Musical Instruments in Markneukirchen.
