Master of Arts. A German-French specialisation in musicology, taken in collaboration with the Sorbonne Université in Paris. The first year may be taken at the Sorbonne, the second at the University of Saarland. Doctor of Philosophy.
Institution Notes:
The University was founded in 1948, the first German university to be founded after the Second World War. It operates on four campuses in the region. Scholars in the research department have produced a 39-volume complete edition of the works of Lully. The archives contain an extensive collection of manuscripts and printed materials of music of the Saarland music and choral societies, reports and reviews on the cultivation of music in the Saar region. A chanson archive containing more than 20,000 French-language titles and recordings is held in the University's library.
