Institution Notes:
The University was founded in 1947 and has co-operation agreements with the conservatories of Luxembourg and Lorraine (France). The three institutions have formed the ‘Saar-Lor-Lux Orchester’ to present an annual concert tour. A master workshop in contemporary music (Tage für Interpretation und Aufführungspraxis) is arranged during a week in October. In co-operation with the State Theatre of Saarland, the Saarland Broadcasting authority and the department of music at the University of the Saarland, a Network of Music Saarland (Netzwerk Musik Saar) has been created, giving information with special emphasis on productions of contemporary music and performances.
