In 1999 the Leopold Mozart Konservatorium in Augsburg and the Meistersinger Konservatorium in Nürnberg were officially joined to become the Hochschule für Musik Nürnberg-Augsburg – the youngest Hochschule in Germany. The seat of administration is in Nürnberg. At the Nürnberg campus there is an opera school, an early music studio, a music technology studio with some emphasis on jazz and classical saxophone, accordion and organ. At the Augsburg campus the emphasis is on church music, wind band conducting, guitar and music therapy. In 2003 the Hochschule für Musik in Nürnberg joined with the Nürnberg State Theatre to create the International Opera Studio Nürnberg, enrolling six to eight vocal graduates to undertake further opera training. An active member of the Association Européenne des Conservatoires, Académies de Musique et Musikhochschulen.
