Institution Notes:
The Academy was founded in 2003. It describes itself as a 'University of Popular Music and Music Business'. Facilities include a well-equipped digital sound studio. The Popakademie hosts an annual summer camp and is involved in a partnership of 12 institutions from six European countries working on the development of a common curriculum to facilitate student exchange programs. Apart from the professional course, the Academy organises advanced programs for practising music teachers as well as programs for schools. There is a program in popular music education for interested members of the local community, taken in conjunction with the Jazz and Rock School in Freiburg and the German Academy for Musical Youth Education Trossingen. An active member of the Association Européenne des Conservatoires, Académies de Musique et Musikhochschulen.
