Institution Notes:

Formerly known as the University of Kiel, this insitution was founded in 1665 and the Institute of Musicology was created in 1921. It holds the Prieberg Archive, a collection of documents for musical life in the Nazi era. The Brahms Institute holds the complete works of Brahms and co-operates with the Brahms Institute at the Musikhochschule Lübeck. The University's Collegium Musicum with its large symphony orchestra and choir hosts concerts for the public. Other performing groups include the student choir Kantorei and the Bach ensemble. Facilities include a number of early and modern keyboard instruments.
