Programs

• Basic music training. Five months. Studies in performance, theory, music history and aural training. On completion students may be promoted to the rank of sergeant or to petty officer second class in the navy. • Advanced training. One year. In collaboration with the Robert-Schumann University, Düsseldorf. • Regular studies. Four semesters. Taken at the Robert-Schumann-University. Further examinations may lead to promotion to staff sergeant or to petty officer first class in the navy. • Officer in the Military Service. Five years. Studies in the bandmasters’/conductors’ class, together with advanced training courses of medical and military affairs. Completion may lead to promotion to captain or to captain-lieutenant in the navy.

Founded in 2009, this is the superior Military Music Centre of the Bundeswehr. It currently manages all 14 orchestras and bands of the Bundeswehr's military music service. It trains musicians for careers in military bands of the army, navy and air force and works in close collaboration with the Robert-Schumann University in Düsseldorf. A number of bases are spread throughout Germany.
