Institution Notes:
The University was founded in 1734. The Seminar’s Musikinstrumenten Sammlung houses a significant collection of traditional instruments from Europe, Asia, Africa, America and Oceania. The library holds a collection of photographs, a sound archive of early recordings of European art music and an archival collection of microfilm of historical and ethnomusicological recordings. There are links with the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hannover.
