Institution Notes:
The University can trace its history back to 1229. Formerly known as Université de Toulouse II - Le Mirail, in 2014 it gained its current name. The Department of Music organises an annual concert using its choir and orchestra, and collaborating with the Orchestre National du Capitole de Toulouse. The research program in the musicology division organises specialised seminars on various aspects of music which in the past have included such topics as baroque music, contemporary music, organology, ethnomusicology, musical acoustics and psycho-acoustics. The music library holds many books from the library of Marc Pincherle, some early manuscripts of fantasias for the harpsichord by Telemann, and early publications from the Breitkopf catalogues.
