The Abbaye Saint-Pierre de Solesmes was founded in 1010 and forms part of the Benedictine Confederation. Dom Prosper Guéranger was responsible for reviving the practice of the Gregorian chant in the abbey. Entry to the program is restricted to members of the Benedictine Order. The Paléographie Musicale de Solesmes is a collection of facsimiles of the principal manuscripts of the chant contained in libraries all over Europe. Currently 24 volumes are available, the latest of which came out in 2014. The palaeography workshop also publishes an annual scientific journal called Études Grégoriennes.
