Diplôme d’études musicales (DEM). A two- to three-year pre-professional program in classical and contemporary performance and associated studies which may include early music, folk music, theory, aural skills and composition.
Institution Notes:
This Conservatoire, founded in 1945, is a public institution offering programs in music, theatre and classical and contemporary dance. The program is organised in cycles. The first (preparatory) cycle, ‘Éveil musical’, lasts for four years, followed by the second cycle, also of four years, and leading into the professional programs of the third (cycle d’orientation professionnelle) and fourth (cycle d’enseignement supérieur professionnel). There is a partnership with the Opéra de Rouen. The Conservatoire has programs to suit handicapped students. Apart from the pre-professional program there are courses for interested members of the community.
