Masters program EMAD (Ethnomusicology and Anthropology of Dance). Two years following the Licence. Studies in anthropology and specialist studies in either dance or music, with both research and professional paths being intertwined. The program may be slanted toward special interests of the student. Doctorat de Musique.
Institution Notes:
The university was founded in 1963 as an extension of the Sorbonne. In 1970 it was set up as an independent university known as Université de Paris X, Nanterre. in recent years its name has been changed to Université Paris Nanterre. Courses in ethnomusicology covering most areas of the world are organised in collaboration with the Laboratoire d’Etnomusicologie of the CNRS at the Musée de l’Homme. Specific studies in ethnomusicology begin at the Master's level with the EMAD program jointly organised by the Université Paris Ouest Nanterre and the Universitee Blaise Pascal Clermont-Ferrand 2. There is a Centre of Research in Psychology and Systematic Musicology.
