Institution Notes:
The University was founded in 1289. It became the University de Montpellier III, Paul Valéry in 1970, specialising in the arts, languages and social sciences. Research at the Department of Music centres around multi-disciplinary areas. There is a Centre d’Étude du XXème Siècle which has published articles on Cocteau and Les Six. The Centre de Recherche Interdisciplinaire sur la Société et l’Imaginaire du Moyen Age has published articles and issued a CD Rom on Music in the manuscripts of the Library of the Faculty of Medicine. There is a Centre International de Musique Médiévale.
