Diploma of Music (Diplôme d'études supérieures musicales). Four years. Studies include performance of Andalusian music (including ‘oud, rhita, traditional drums, guitar) under the title 'musicology'.
Institution Notes:
Attached to the Ministry of Culture and the Arts, in 1968 the Institute began programs to encourage traditional music and dances and to preserve folklore, many of whose forms developed from Arabian and Spanish Andalusian styles. There is a collection of documents concerning the traditional music of Algeria.
