Diplôme d’études musicales (DEM). Three years. A professional program in classical and contemporary performance and associated studies which may include early music, theory, aural skills and composition.
The Conservatoire can trace its history back to 1806, and gained its current name and status in 1974. It is a public institution offering programs in music and drama. The program is organised in cycles. The first (preparatory) (éveil musical’), four years, the second, four years, the third ('cycle d’orientation professionnelle') and fourth ('cycle d’enseignement supérieur professionnelle'). The conservatoire building has recently been fully renovated. This Conservatoire is the only one in France to teach carillon. A course in instrumental pedagogy is offered to interested adult members of the local community.
