Licence Musicologie or Musique (= Bachelor of Arts). Three years. Studies include performance (classical, jazz), music history, ethnomusicology, aesthetics. Awarded in partnership with the University of Cergy-Pontoise.
Diplôme d’études musicales (DEM). A two- to three-year pre-professional program in classical and contemporary performance and associated studies which may include early music, theory, aural skills and composition. Certificate of Music Studies (CEM). A program for amateur musicians.
This Conservatoire, founded in 1982, is a public institution offering programs in music, classical and contemporary dance and drama. The program is organised in cycles. The first (preparatory) (éveil musical’), four years, the second, four years, the third ('cycle d’orientation professionnelle') and fourth ('cycle d’enseignement supérieur professionnelle'). The Conservatoire operates in three branches - in Éragny, Cergy and Pontoise and has close links with the University of Cergy-Pontoise. There are programs for very young children and interested members of the local community.
