Diplôme d’études musicales (DEM). A two- to three-year pre-professional program in classical and contemporary performance and associated studies which may include early music, theory, aural skills and composition, music technology. Certificate of Musical Studies. For non-professional students.
Institution Notes:
The Conservatoire was granted its current name and status in 2007. It is a public institution offering programs in music, theatre and classical and contemporary dance. The program is organised in cycles. The first (éveil musical’) four years, the second, four years, the third ('cycle d’orientation professionnelle') and fourth ('cycle d’enseignement supérieur professionnelle'). There are links with l'Université Paris IV (la Sorbonne) and l'Université Paris 8. Through its association with the Pôle Supérieur d'Enseignement Artistique, Paris (which occupies virtually the same building), it supplies teachers for the higher levels of music training leading to full degrees of Bachelor and Master of Music awarded by the Pôle. An active member of the Association Européenne des Conservatoires, Académies de Musique et Musikhochschulen.
