Diplôme d’études musicales (DEM). A two- to three-year pre-professional program in classical and contemporary performance and associated studies which may include early music, theory, aural skills and composition.

Founded in 1890, this is a public institution offering programs in music, classical and contemporary dance and drama. It gained its current name and status in 2006. The program is organised in cycles. The first (éveil musical’) four years, the second, four years, the third ('cycle d’orientation professionnelle') and fourth ('cycle d’enseignement supérieur professionnelle'). Apart from the pre-professional program the Conservatoire offers music activities for children and interested members of the local community.
