Institution Notes:

This institution can trace its history back to 1640, but was founded in its present form in 1918. It is known as Finland’s Swedish University. It is a member of the Åbo-Turku Consortium. The Department of Musicology is both a teaching and research institute. It includes the Sibelius Museum with an extensive Sibelius collection, as well as archives containing a large collection of Western classical instruments, a number of traditional instruments from many countries and Finnish music and records. There is a second campus in Vaasa. Language of instruction is Swedish, though essays and/or assignments may be written in English.
