The Tampere University of Applied Sciences (TAMK), together with the University of Tampere constitutes the Tampere Higher Education Authority. TAMK offers, among other academic areas, education in music, dance and theatre. It has strong links with the Tampere Philharmonic Orchestra and the Tampere Opera. Many programs are offered in English. The Music Academy's premises are used by the music school of Tampere Conservatoire which provides music programs for interested members of the local community. Summer courses in music are offered. An active member of the Association Européenne des Conservatoires, Académies de Musique et Musikhochschulen.
