The Conservatory offers a vocational education in music program with studies in performance, ensemble and general music skills preparatory to possible further study at university level. Study is free to university students.


Institution Notes:

The Centra University of Applied Sciences was founded in 1991, the name being derived from Central Ostrobothnia University of Applied Sciences and currently used since 2012. The Conservatory was founded in 1966. It became the Unit of Music and Arts of the private University of Applied Sciences in 1999. The Conservatory offers a diploma and the University awards a degree in music education. It is a centre of folk music study and research. There are other campuses in Ylivieska and Jacobstad. Languages of instruction are mostly Finnish and Swedish, though some programs are taught in English. In addition to the professional programs there are programs for children and interested members of the local community. An active member of the Association Européenne des Conservatoires, Académies de Musique et Musikhochschulen.
