Institution Notes:

The Finnish Folk Music Institute is an Accredited expert organisation of the Unesco Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage. It is a music and dance research institute and information centre founded in 1974, with a large archive of Finnish folk music and dance, and a library of field recordings and videos of traditional Finnish music. The Institute arranges a series of folk music courses and organises a regular folk music festival; it also publishes books, sheet music, recordings and other material of Finnish folk music. There are over 1,000 historical and folk instruments and a newspaper-clip collection of over 100,000 pieces. An instrument workshop maintains the collection and offers conservation, construction and maintenance services to the public.
