Institution Notes:
Established in 1935 as the Higher Institute for Music Teachers, in 1975 this institution became a faculty of the newly-created Helwan University. It aims to prepare music educators to work in schools at different levels and at other organisations dealing with music education. There are seven departments: performance (Western and Arabic instruments), musicology, Arabic music, music in special education, composition, music theory and education.
