Licenciature en Música (Third cycle). Studies include performance (classical, jazz/popular, folk), theory, composition, music history, pedagogy.


Institution Notes:

The conservatory, founded in 1942, operates under the control of the Ministry of Culture. It is housed in a purpose-built building formally inaugurated in February, 1994. The conservatory organizes the only youth symphony orchestra in the country. It controls a total of 21 junior Academías de Música – two in Santo Domingo, and 19 in provincial towns. The library holds the national archive of tapes and manuscripts of music of the Dominican Republic. A junior department (Academía) provides basic tuition for the first and second cycles; interested young people and adults may take non-professional courses in jazz and popular music.
