Institution Notes:
The Royal Danish Conservatorium (Det Kongelige Danske Musikkonservatorium) is the only music institution in Denmark solely specialising in classical performance. It was founded in 1867 by the composer Niels W Gade. The Academy has several fine performance spaces as well as a recording and production studio. There is a large collection of instruments including over 100 pianos, seven organs and several harpsichords as well as many orchestral instruments for loan to students. A junior department offers music classes to children and young people. The Conservatorium offers continuing education classes for organists, church musicians and singers as well as in baroque and classical interpretation and aural skills. An active member of the Association Européenne des Conservatoires, Académies de Musique et Musikhochschulen.
