Institution Notes:

A private co-educational university founded in 1964. The Faculty of Arts has departments of photography, architecture, environmental planning, visual concept planning, art planning, broadcasting, theatrical arts, literary arts, fine arts, design, crafts, musicology, performance and music education. Students may take individual subjects in arts other than their area of specialisation. Facilities include an electronic music studio, the largest of its kind in Japan, an acoustic testing chamber, an audio-visual hall, a pipe organ and an exhibition hall. The library has a major collection of over 250,000 books, 90,000 copies of music resources and scores, more than 40,000 78 rpm records and some 200 historical phonographs in full working order. There are sister school arrangements with a number of international institutions. The Tsukamoto Gakuin Institute (a group of education institutions of the Osaka University of Arts) consists of a junior college, a vocational college and kindergartens. It also offers correspondence courses.
