The Artistic Conservatory of French Polynesia (Conservatoire Artistique de Polynésie Française) is concerned with traditional Tahitian arts, and the main thrust of its endeavours is traditional Tahitian dance styles. Associated art forms that contribute to the study of dance and receive some attention in the program are traditional songs, various percussions, ukulele, guitar, nasal flute, choreographic courses, study of general Polynesian culture and historical studies. While there are several music schools offering music lessons for children, there is no institution providing higher professional music training in French Polynesia.
