Institution Notes:

This private Anglican school opened a music program in 1963 to provide music instruction to underprivileged children who attend Holy Trinity Anglican Primary School. It teaches music to many other school children between the ages of 5 and 12 as well as to interested members of the local community. There is a program for very young children and an annual summer music camp. The School has established a training program to enable young musicians to become effective teachers. The School is the home to 'Les Petits Chanteurs' - a choir of boys and young men. Other ensembles include string groups, a chamber orchestra, philharmonic orchestra, a guitar group, wind and brass bands. The School's philharmonic orchestra has travelled throughout the country. The library contains music by Haitian composers. The School was completely destroyed by the earthquake of 2010 with the loss of all of its instruments and the destruction of the only concert hall in the country - the Salle St Cecile. With the assistance of donations from well-wishers including the BLUME Haiti Foundation (Building Leaders Using Music Education), it has been reopened.
