Diploma of Music. Three years. Studies in performance on traditional instruments - kirar, masinko, traditional drums, performance in bands, entrepreneurship, pedagogy.
Institution Notes:
This institution, founded in 2001 offers music training for young people with visual impairment. The Centre, with support from a Swedish Culture Foundation (Selam), lobbies higher education institutions to admit visually impaired students, offers vocational training opportunities in the music industry and prepares young musicians for entry to full-time music and music industry programs. Interested students with vision impairment are offered scholarships and allowances for transport and lunch at the centre. It is the only music centre for youth with visual impairment in Ethiopia and is also the first one giving vocational training opportunities to people with visual impairment at the diploma level.
