Details:
Bachelor of Music. Three years. Studies include theory, music history, form and analysis, ethnomusicology. Performance is not taught, but some level of performance skill is a pre-requisite for entry. Bachelor of Education (BEd). For the music specialisation there are studies in basic performance (piano, violin), choral conducting, music education.

Institution Notes:
Founded in 1348, this public university is the oldest in Central Europe. The music department of the Faculty of Education is actively involved in research in music education and runs summer schools in music education for overseas students. Lifelong learning and University of the Third Age programs offer courses for interested members of the local public. Language of instruction is Czech, but the doctoral programs may be taken in Czech, German or English.
