Institution Notes:

The College, a specialised educational and cultural centre of historic art, can trace its origins back to the thirteenth century Týn School and later the Recek College (Collegium Sanctissimae Mariae). It occupies the premises of a former Servite Monastery near St. Michael's Church. Not in itself a teaching institution, the College's main focus is on performance of Gregorian chant, polyphonic vocal music, Latin language and history. It works in close collaboration with the Charles University, in particular with its Musical Science Institute, the Institute of Art History, the Department of Music Education, and the Fine Arts Department of the Pedagogical Faculty. The College holds workshops and masterclasses in the performance of early music and organises an annual Summer Festivities of Early Music, and Baroque Evenings. There is also a department specialising in the restoration of Christian religious art and monuments.
