Details:

The intensive pre-tertiary music program involves solo and ensemble performance, jazz performance, theory, aural skills and composition, choral conducting, as well as a program of high school music production and engineering. Ensembles include instrumental groups, choirs and an opera workshop. There are also courses in additional instruments, jazz history, jazz improvisation, music history. An adult program in music offers studies in early music, choral experience and instrumental performance.

The Interlochen Center for the Arts is a privately-owned, 1,200-acre arts education institution. Its Arts Academy High School was founded in 1962, and offers full academic programs in upper secondary school subjects as well as intensive specific programs in comparative arts, creative writing, dance, film and new media, theatre and visual arts. It is a boarding school for young artists and prepares students to enter tertiary programs in various branches of the arts. Facilities include a number of fine performance spaces. The Summer Arts Camp organises programs in various branches of the arts for children from school grades 3 to 12. Other activities include an annual arts festival and a public radio station. The Frederick & Elizabeth Ludwig Fennell Music Library holds one of the largest collections of performance materials in the USA, with more than 17,000 scores, 57,000 performing sets and 10,000 CDs and LPs. There are partnerships with the High School of the Shanghai Conservatory in China and the School for the Arts in Singapore. Member of the National Association of Schools of Music.
