Institution Notes:
The Academy, founded in 1938, is not a teaching institution, but aims to promote and encourage research into sciences and arts. The Institute of Musicology was established in 1972. It specialises in the historical aspects of Slovene music, and has published in bibliographical catalogues, scientific treatises, critical editions of early Slovene music and participates in international conferences. There is also an Institute of Ethnomusicology.
