Diploma in Music. Studies may include performance (classical, folk, popular, operetta), choral conducting, composition, theory, music history, electroacoustic music, music education.
Institution Notes:
The Conservatory can trace its history back to 1919. Through its three faculties it offers programs in theatre, film and television and music and dance and has a tradition in the performance of the music of the Viennese classical composers. There is an opera studio with regular student performances. Students are admitted from the age of 13 and are able to continue their general education as well as undertake music tuition for four years, after which they may enter the professional two-year diploma program. The library holds the manuscripts of several Slovak composers - Eugen Suchon, Miloslav Korinek and Michal Vilec. The main language of instruction is Slovak, with a few courses offered in English, German or Russian.
