The University was founded in 1976. The Faculty of Philology and Arts consists of schools of philology, music, and applied arts. The Music Academy is one of the youngest music departments in Serbia, being established in 1980. Apart from the performance, music history and theoretical courses its programs in accordion and music in media are unique in Serbia. Language of instruction is Serbian, though some programs are offered in English.
